About me

I’m Chentian Zhang—an interdisciplinary visual artist and outdoor photographer transitioning into immersive experience design. Over the past 5+ years, I’ve worked in visual storytelling and media production, with a focus on rapid prototyping and iteration. I’m also experienced in delivering commercial projects and photography workshops.

Outside the studio, I spend a lot of time in the mountains. I hike, climb, and travel for photography. I converted a minivan into a camper and drove from Montréal to the Arctic Ocean. In Yukon, I backpacked over 100 km carrying about 30 kg of gear. I’ve also summited multiple 5,000 m and 6,000 m peaks, often in cold, fast-changing conditions. These trips taught me planning, risk awareness, and how to make good decisions when the environment is unpredictable—skills I bring back into my creative work.

I’m also curious about spatial media and wearable capture, especially questions of trust, privacy, and consent. When I’m not making projects, you’ll usually find me studying maps, training for the next trip, or editing images late into the night.
